London Knowledge Lab

Each presentation segment started with a brief introduction about the London Knowledge Lab and its mission.

Segment 1
  • Kevin Walker presented Kaleidoscope, a European Network of Excellence in technology-enhanced learning in which the London Knowledge Lab has a leading role.

  • Kevin Keenoy a brief overview of two projects funded by the EU, a recently completed Accompanying Measure titled "SeLeNe: Self e-Learning Networks", and the Kaleidoscope TRAILS project's aims and results so far.

  • Don Peterson presented on the Kaleidoscope SIG on Philosophy of Technology Enhanced Learning and he talked about iClass, an EU funded project with 22 academic, industrial and educational partners, which will produce a pre-production system for personalised e-learning.

Open Day image   Segment 2

  • George Magoulas talked about aspects of user modelling for personalisation including an evaluation of the role of user modelling in personalised applications and showing different dimensions of user models in adaptive learning environments and personalised information spaces.

  • Sara talked about her research programme which has investigated a range of different areas of ICT and education including e-learning and pedagogy, blended learnign solutions for post-compulsory education and training and most recently the use of educational games and simulations.

  • Rebekah Willett described various research projects conducted at The Centre for the Study of Children, Youth and Media (CSCYM). The work at the CSCYM focuses on the role of media technologies in children's lives and cultures in order to inform research, policy and practice as well as public debate in these areas.
